Lily Dobesh
Intern Therapist & Art Therapist-in-Training | Creative counseling for children, teens & expressive healing
Lily Dobesh (she/her) is a graduate-level intern therapist currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. She offers warm, creative, and client-centered therapy for children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity exploration, and emotional expression through art.
Lily’s clinical approach blends compassion, attunement, and a deep belief in the healing power of creativity. She integrates talk therapy with Art Therapy interventions to support emotional processing, insight, and expression—especially when words fall short. Whether using drawing, painting, or mixed media, Lily tailors each session to the client’s comfort level, using materials to help externalize thoughts and explore the “inexpressible.”
She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Studio Art from Creighton University. Before entering the counseling field, Lily spent 15 years teaching dance to children and teens ages 4–18, an experience that continues to inform her playful, developmentally attuned, and movement-aware lens. She has also worked with Child Protective Services, which gave her firsthand insight into child development, trauma, and the importance of early therapeutic intervention.
Lily’s therapeutic orientation is client-centered and humanistic, creating a safe, affirming space for exploration, healing, and growth. She meets each client with curiosity and care, honoring their unique story while fostering self-awareness and emotional resilience.
She offers therapy in person in Boulder and online throughout Colorado under the supervision of licensed clinicians at Thrive Psychotherapy.
