Amy Briggs, MM, DMA
Intern Therapist | Somatic, relational therapy for anxiety, life transitions & women’s mental health
Amy Briggs (she/her) is a graduate-level intern therapist completing her Master’s in Clinical Counseling at Adams State University. She provides thoughtful, somatic, person-centered therapy for adults navigating anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, PTSD, social anxiety, burnout, career transitions, relationship challenges, and adjustment disorders. She has particular depth in working with women’s mental health concerns, including perimenopause, menopause, identity shifts, and midlife transitions.
Amy approaches therapy with grounded presence, emotional attunement, and clinical clarity. She believes lasting change begins with deep listening — to the body, to relational patterns, and to the quiet narratives that shape how we move through the world. Her work integrates somatic awareness with evidence-informed counseling to support nervous system regulation, insight, and meaningful behavioral change.
She also works with clients exploring spiritual and existential questions, helping individuals navigate purpose, identity, and the uncertainty that often accompanies major life transitions. Additionally, she provides compassionate support for partners of loved ones in addiction recovery and those seeking healthier relational dynamics.
Before entering the counseling field, Amy had an accomplished career as a concert pianist and university music professor, later expanding into integrative somatic coaching in private practice. Her decades of experience in performance, coaching, and embodied practice deeply inform her clinical work. She brings refined attunement, discipline, and emotional intelligence to the therapy space.
Amy holds master’s and doctoral degrees in music, multiple coaching certifications, and is currently pursuing certification as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner through Somatic Experiencing™ International.
She offers therapy in person in Boulder and online throughout Colorado under the supervision of licensed clinicians at Thrive Psychotherapy.
