Jess Friedman
MA, LPCC
Somatic therapist, parts work nerd, and nervous system whisperer
Jessica (Jess) Friedman (she/her) is a somatic and trauma-informed therapist in Boulder, CO, offering depth-oriented therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and nervous system dysregulation. She supports clients in reconnecting with their inner wisdom by approaching the body and mind as an integrated system—where every part holds a story, a survival strategy, and the potential for healing.
Jess believes that true transformation begins when we stop treating parts of ourselves as problems to fix—and instead learn to listen. Her therapy style is client-led, relational, and rooted in the gentle invitation to meet all parts of the self with compassion, curiosity, and care. Whether a client is experiencing chronic stress, emotional numbness, internal conflict, or simply feeling lost, Jess creates a space of safety and presence for the work of reconnection.
Her therapeutic foundation includes mindfulness-based transpersonal counseling, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed parts work, somatic awareness, breathwork, Gestalt theory, expressive arts, and movement-based interventions. She is trained in TRE (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises), Reiki, neuromuscular trigger point therapy, and body-based trauma recovery modalities—supporting clients in releasing stored tension and regulating the nervous system.
Before becoming a therapist, Jess spent years working with the body through massage, energy work, and creative expression. She draws on this deep knowledge of how the body stores and speaks our truth—often before the conscious mind can make sense of it. Her sessions may include subtle breath shifts, embodied visualization, or attention to tremors and postures—clues from the nervous system that something is ready to be seen and released.
Jess has provided individual, family, and group therapy to clients recovering from trauma, addiction, anxiety, and rupture. She’s led groups in Art Therapy, Embodied Movement, and Equine Therapy, where she witnessed the profound healing power of creativity, nonverbal communication, and co-regulation with animals.
Her presence is grounded, intuitive, and deeply compassionate. In every session, Jess offers a steady invitation back to the self. She helps clients explore what their body already knows, ask the right questions, and remember that healing is not about becoming someone new—but about reclaiming the parts of ourselves we were taught to hide.
