Sonya Hueftle

MA, LPCC, EMDR

Trail-walking therapist, EMDR healer, and calm guide through life’s harder seasons

Sonya Hueftle (she/her) is a Boulder-based Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate offering trauma-informed therapy for adults and older adults. She supports clients navigating trauma, PTSD, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and major life transitions, creating a space that is grounded, collaborative, and deeply respectful of each person’s experience.

Sonya’s approach is rooted in the belief that healing happens in relationship: with oneself, with others, and with the world around us. She helps clients explore how past experiences, especially loss and trauma, have shaped their current patterns, while building tools for emotional regulation, clarity, and resilience. She is especially attuned to the challenges of ADHD, including overwhelm, emotional intensity, and difficulty with focus or organization.

She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD, and integrates this work with narrative therapy, mindfulness, and nature-based practices. Her sessions may include time outdoors, using Boulder’s natural environment to support grounding, reflection, and connection.

Sonya’s background as a caregiver, farmer, naturalist, and Peace Corps volunteer in Panama informs her holistic and culturally aware approach. She brings a calm, steady presence to the therapy space, creating an environment where clients feel heard, supported, and able to engage difficult emotions safely.

She offers therapy in person, outdoors, and via telehealth in both English and Spanglish, serving clients throughout Boulder and across Colorado.
