Connection, meaning, and a little humor for being human

Travis Cox is a Clinical Counseling Intern offering person-centered, trauma-aware therapy in Boulder, CO. He supports clients navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, identity exploration, disconnection, and questions of meaning and purpose. Travis believes many of our struggles are rooted in disconnection—from ourselves, from the people we love, from nature, and from what gives our lives meaning—and that therapy can help us find our way back.

For more than a decade, Travis has supported people through meaningful growth and personal transformation as a professor in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs focused on transformational education. His work in higher education shaped his deep respect for the inherent strengths within each person and his belief that meaningful change begins by understanding who we are, recognizing our unique gifts, and developing the resilience to navigate life’s challenges.

Travis’s therapeutic approach is compassionate, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and spiritually informed. He draws from person-centered and trauma-informed counseling while incorporating humor, nature, reflection, and exploration of values, identity, relationships, and purpose. His work is grounded in the belief that every person possesses an underlying capacity for growth, connection, and healing.

Warm, thoughtful, and down-to-earth, Travis creates a collaborative therapy space where clients can explore themselves without judgment, reconnect with what matters, and discover new ways of moving through the world. He makes room for both the difficult realities of being human and the humor that can sometimes make the journey a little lighter.

Travis offers therapy in person in Boulder and online throughout Colorado under the supervision of licensed clinicians at Thrive Psychotherapy.
